Do you have an interest in German literature? Do you enjoy listening, reading, speaking, or writing German? Would you want to spend time living in Germany and participating in their daily culture? If so, the German major at Mount Union College may be for you.
The German major at Mount Union focuses on several different aspects of the German culture. German majors will gain speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills of the German language. The living patterns, social structure, and value systems of the German culture will be discussed along with German literatures. Students will be able to understand the cultures and civilizations of German speaking people along with an understanding of the careers and professions available to German majors. Lastly, students will spend a period of time living and learning in Germany, experiencing the culture first hand.
Student organizations include Alpha Mu Gamma, the foreign language honorary society, Foreign Language Club and the Association of International Students. German graduates can choose from career opportunities such as public relations, teaching, business, social work, government service, scientific research, various technical occupations and legal and medical services. Many graduates also continue on to graduate study.
