From the Classics to postmodernism and postcolonialism, Literature enlightens, educates and brings us closer together. So, whether you want to instill literacy and a lifelong love for reading in children or spend you life researching and publishing, the major of English can help prepare you to live what you learn and learn about what you love.

The major in English is part of the Department of English. The objectives of the Department of English are to educate students in written and oral expression, linguistics, the cultural significance of literature and literary history. The department prepares majors for teaching, graduate study, and professional and business careers.
