Faculty Profile |
The Department reinforces a broad perspective on the nature and effects of the communication process rather than a narrow focus on training for a particular career. Such an approach makes students more successful both personally and professionally in this increasingly complex and ever changing world.
Communication theory and practice historically have been central to a liberal arts education and Mount Union College continues that tradition today by offering courses in public, interpersonal, organizational, and intercultural communication as well as media studies. Our graduates find challenging careers in radio broadcasting, newspaper journalism, public relations, television, events planning, marketing, and public service among many other opportunities. And since these courses are interdisciplinary in nature, students can easily link them to other areas of study preparing them to work in a variety of fields including law, business, politics, theatre, and the ministry. Additionally, upper-level theory and research courses prepare students for graduate school should they choose to attend in the future.
The Department of Communication offers one 36-semester hour major, one 15-semester hour minor, and four 15-semester hour concentrations for non-majors.
