Marketing Plan

Mount Union students that choose to take on the challenge of a business administration major or minor are required to complete BA 220, Marketing Principals. This course introduces students to marketing theory and its application in the business world. Analysis of marketing functions as they relate to pricing, product decisions, distribution, promotional activity and market research also are explored through the textbook and class discussion.

An integral part of the course is the marketing team project. Students take the skills they learn in the classroom and apply them in an actual business setting. This semester-long project pairs up the class with an area business in need of marketing assistance. The students are divided into groups, ranging from three to five people, and are responsible for coming up with an in-depth marketing plan for the chosen business. At the close of the semester, each group presents their plan to the business. The business then selects the plan they feel is best suited to their needs. It is both a fun and educational experience for the students and the business owner. Each gets the chance to learn from the other, resulting in a heightened of the business and a feeling of accomplishment.
