Academic and Professional Background:
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Malone College. My passion for life-long learning drew me to continue my formal education at Case Western Reserve University where I earned a Master of Science in Organizational Development and Analysis. This was a program that focused on developing visionary leadership, accelerated change in organizations and developing human potential.
I also hold certifications through the Center for Creative Leadership and other institutions in diagnostic instruments used to evaluate leadership strengths and developmental areas of managers.
Personal Approach to Teaching:
My personal approach to teaching is summed up in a quote by Katharine Graham, ?To love what you do and feel that it matters ? How could anything be more fun!?
My professional experience is both in the education and health care environments. Having held human resource, training and development, and faculty positions, I have worked extensively with organizations in the areas of leadership development, human relations and change management. Therefore, my approach to teaching is to incorporate my experiences and industry knowledge into the curriculum. While lecturing is part of my classroom environment, I integrate group activities and ?real-life? examples throughout all my classes. My goal in teaching is to facilitate the understanding of basic management theories and then help students to apply them to current issues in the business sector.
Most recently at Mount Union College, I had the exciting opportunity to create the Human Resource Concentration. This program offers students a basic overview of functions performed by managers and human resource professionals in a constantly changing business environment.
