There are usually barriers that need to be overcome before business can take place. Foreign language skills, as well as knowledge of cultural differences, can help business etiquette. North American countries have realized that sometimes growth is only possible through the expansion into new markets.
Coursework at Mount Union includes a look at management, economics, marketing, and even business law. Language courses are required, but can significantly aid students who wish to add language as a minor. Strong communication skills are a must in any business setting.
The majority of jobs in international business involve sales and marketing. If you are interested in a government position, the International Trade Administration includes job titles such as international trade specialist, international economist, economist, and import compliance specialist. Graduates may also be interested in transnational public and private organizations, such as multinational corporations, banks, shipping firms, air transportation.
Another requirement of this major is the study abroad program. Students must earn six credits in a university abroad. Most students have very positive experiences and can learn hands-on about different cultures and businesses.
