Students have a chance to explore various disciplines and curricular patterns, prepare for theological school, all while benefiting from Mount Union's pre-ministerial advising and career assistance.

The pre-ministry program at Mount Union College allows students to explore the nature and place of religion in human experience. Students will examine the struggle for human value and meaning as they prepare for a number of challenging professions that demand a variety of skills:

  • Ministry
  • Community and global service
  • Social work
  • Counseling
  • Other church-related fields

As a student in the pre-ministry program, you will benefit from the knowledge of an advisor who understands denominational requirements and seminary options. This personal attention, combined with our challenging academic program, will prepare you for a rewarding career.

Program
Mount Union College's Pre-Ministry Program is administered by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. Students wishing to take the Pre-Ministry path in religious studies must complete the required 33 credit hours of coursework. The Pre-Ministry concentration requires completing the religious studies major, including a number of specific requirements. Also required for this program is the completion of an internship.

Organizations
Students involved with Pre-Ministry can be involved in a variety of on-campus organizations and activities. Some of these include:

  • Theta Alpha Kappa- honor society in religion
  • Religion and Philosophy Club
  • Kappa Phi- national Christian service organization for women students
  • Religious Life Council
  • Numerous other campus groups organized to meet students? spiritual needs and ethical concerns

Experiential Learning
At Mount Union students have the opportunity to take part in learning activities outside of the classroom. As one of the requirements for the Pre-Ministry concentration is an internship, students can expect a fulfilling experience, while being under the direct supervision of a faculty member. Other meaningful options outside of the classroom include:

  • Summer study abroad programs
  • Lecturers and discussions with visiting scholars
  • Field trips to public lectures and gatherings with majors from other colleges
