Dear MUC Honors Scholar:

Congratulations on your admission to Mount Union College! I am delighted you will be participating in one of our unique Honors Programs. With a commitment to rigorous study, you will be able to aim higher and go farther as an honors scholar.

The Honors Programs are designed for inquisitive, intellectually spirited and enterprising students such as you. Within the liberal arts tradition, this course of study offers a variety of intellectual, cultural and social opportunities. Throughout your college career, the Honors Programs will benefit you through exciting classes, close contact with distinguished faculty, and the opportunity to do in-depth research on topics that interest you most. With these experiences, you will be better prepared to make a meaningful contribution to your community.

I enjoy being co-director of the Honors program; working with the students and planning our social and cultural events are my favorite activities. I teach LS 100H every fall, and I am the adviser for all new First Year in Honors students for their first semester or two here at Mount Union College. I also help choose the First Year in Honors participants, advocate for additional perks for our Honors students, and do anything I can to improve their college experience. I enjoy working with Honors students in part because I participated in a wonderful Honors program as an undergraduate that really made a difference in my life, and I would like to do the same for all our Honors students at Mount Union College.

I am very pleased you have chosen to make the Mount Union College Honors Programs a cornerstone of your undergraduate experience, and I look forward to working with you as a partner in your pursuit of excellence.

Sincerely,

Beth Canfield-Simbro, Ph.D.
