The Committee on Cross-Curricular Development is a standing committee of the faculty, and is the parent committee of the Subcommittee on Advanced Placement and Honors.

It is the responsibility of this Committee to encourage curriculum development and to recommend changes especially in areas that cross departmental boundaries and that extend beyond the curriculum to enhance the cultural quality of campus life.

This Committee includes standing subcommittees in Advanced Placement and Honors, International Education, and Teacher Education. The Committee on Cross-Curricular Development consists of the Dean of the College, six faculty members with rank of Instructor or above, two students, and the registrar and the Vice-President for Student Affairs as nonvoting ex-officio members. The President of the College is a voting ex-officio member of all committees and subcommittees.

The Subcommittee on Advanced Placement and Honors is a standing subcommittee of the Committee on Cross-Curricular Development. This Subcommittee studies, recommends, and implements policies governing the honors and advanced placement programs.

The Honors Review Board is a subcommittee of the Subcommittee on Advanced Placement and Honors. The Honors Review Board reviews all proposals for student honors projects as described in an earlier section of this handbook.

1. Appealing the Decision of the Honors Review Board

If a student has a GPA too low to enter the honors program, the student may write a letter to the Honors Review Board explaining the reasons why the student should be allowed to participate, including, if desired, extenuating circumstances, evidence of recent progress in GPA, supporting statements from instructors and advisor, etc.

A student may appeal the decision of the Honors Review Board to the Dean of the College.

2. Appealing the Grade on the Honors Project

If the instructor refuses to assign the honors grade "H", the student may appeal the grade according to the procedure outlined in the College Catalogue under 'Policies for Change of Grade Petitions'.
