Summer Reading Assignment for the Entering Class of Fall 2008
The summer reading assignment is required of all new students and is intended to create a shared learning experience for the LS 100 students and their LS 100 Mentors at Mount Union College. The theme of LS 100 for this year is LS 100: Soaring to Success!
In this, our ninth year of the summer reading assignment, we have selected The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini as the summer reading book for this year's entering class. Your first assignment for LS100 is to read the book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini before you come to Orientation in August.
A critically acclaimed best-seller, this book tells the story of a boy and his friend growing up in war-torn Afghanistan. The Washington Post Book World calls The Kite Runner, “A powerful book…no frills, no nonsense, just hard, spare prose…an intimate account of family and friendship, betrayal and salvation that requires no atlas or translation to engage and enlighten us.” You will think about and discuss the many characters, ideas, and themes in The Kite Runner right from the very beginning of the fall semester in your LS 100 class. You can purchase the book in the Mount Union College Bookstore.
Welcome to LS 100! Welcome to Mount Union College!
