Mount Union Baseball Team Sweeps Quakers to Remain Unbeaten in OAC

Mount Union College's baseball team (11-5, 4-0 OAC) swept Wilmington on Sunday, March 30 at Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The Raiders took the first game 10-8 and won the nightcap 9-4.
In the first game, pitcher Erik Miller went six plus innings to earn his second win on the year. He finished with six strikeouts and one walk. Reliever Steve Hustack came on with two on and nobody out in the seventh inning to preserve the win for the Raiders.
Offensively, outfielder Grant Sevek belted a homerun and a triple. Sevek also added three runs scored. Shortstop Craig Knott was 1-3 with a homer, Andy Warner was 1-3 with an RBI, first baseman Cory Slaybaugh was 2-4, catcher Jon Schulz was 2-4 with an RBI, third baseman Nate McFarland was 2-4 and outfielder Greg Ferrell had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Raider attack.
Mount Union scored 10 runs on 14 hits with three errors compared to eight runs on seven hits and three misques for Wilmington.

In the second game, Mount Union pitcher Joe Irwin went the distance for his third win of the year. Irwin struck out a season-best 10 batters and only surrendered one earned run.
Catcher Jon Schulz again had a hot bat going 3-4 with two RBIs. McFarland was 2-4 with one RBI, Slaybaugh was 2-5, Outfielder Dave Bogner was 1-3 with two runs scored and Warner added a hit.
The Raiders scored nine runs on 12 hits with one error and Wilmington touched home four times on 11 hits and one error.
Mount Union will return to action Monday, March 31 at home against Geneva, PA. First pitch from 23rd Street Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
