Mount Union's Softball Team Falls to Simpson; Defeats Emmanuel

Mount Union College's softball team (4-2) lost to Simpson (IA) by a score 6-2 and then defeated Emmanuel (MA) 8-0 on Tuesday, March 11 in Kissimmee, Fl.

Against Simpson, Mount Union score only twice on five hits, while Simpson touched home six times on 10 hits.

Raider pitcher Lindsey Royer went the distance with four strikeouts in the losing effort.  Megan Polifrone was 2-3 with 2 RBI and Anna Horning wsa 1-2 to lead the Raider bats.

In the second game, Mount Union's bats came alive for eight runs on 12 hits in an 8-0 mercy rule win over Emmanuel (MA).  Lee Negrelli went 1-3 with a stolen base, Anna Horning was 2-3 with a stolen base, Erin Duignan was 1-2 with an RBI, Alex Lucak was 3-3 with an RBI and a stolen base, and Kathy Seitz was 2-3.

Pitcher Stephanie Cain went the distance earning her first win of the year.  She had four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Mount Union will next battle Defiance and Ramapo (NJ) on Thursday, March 13.
