Raider Softball Team Wins Two More In Florida

Mount Union College's softball team finished its spring trip 9-3 overall after defeating Washington and Jefferson (PA) 2-1 and Kean (NJ) 6-4 on Saturday, March 15 in Kissimmee, Fl.

Against Washington and Jefferson, the Raiders received RBI doubles from Erin Duignan and Stephanie Cain to lead the attack.  Lindsey Royer was 2-2 from the plate and Katie Olive was 1-1 on the day.

On the mound, Royer pitched another complete game for her fifth win.  She struck out four in the process.

Mount Union scored two runs on six hits with no errors, while Washington and Jefferson scored one time on four hits and one error.

In the second game of day against Kean (NJ), Mount Union rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the seventh innning to win 6-4.  Erin Duignan doubled in two runs and Katie Olive blasted a two-run homer to give the Raiders the lead.

Lee Negrelli finished the day 3-4 with two doubles, Meghan Allen was 2-2 with two steals and Olive was 2-3.

Pitcher Kellie Schmucker started the game and pitched four and two-thirds innings, while Royer came in and earned the win in relief.  Royer is 6-2 overall on the year.

Mount Union had six runs on nine hits and two errors compared to four runs on 12 hits and no misques for Kean.

Mount Union returns to action on Saturday, March 21 at Lake Erie.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
