The Mount Union College Dance Team, a student organization with tryouts open to all students, provides entertainment at home basketball games, other athletic contests and various campus events in an effort to promote school spirit throughout the year.
Under the direction of two captains (upperclass students) and an advisor who handles logistics and fiscal matters, the group is made up of approximately 12-18 members selected each fall. The captains (sometimes with the help of other members) choreograph routines and teach them to the other members of the team at rehearsals, usually held twice a week and scheduled to meet the needs of the individual members. Routines are typically a mix of traditional jazz and hip-hop. The team rehearses and performs from September to March.
