John Homon has spent the past three decades creating one of the most successful and respected cross country and track and field programs in Ohio and the nation.

Homon enters his 30th season as the head men's cross country, track and field coach at Mount Union College and has amassed more Ohio Athletic Conference Championships (51) than any other coach in conference history.

In the spring of 2007, Homon was inducted into the NCAA Division III Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Last year, his men's outdoor track and field team claimed the OAC title and finished fourth in the nation.  For the second straight year a Purple Raider claimed the NCAA Division III national title in the shot put.

His impressive resume includes 12 cross country, 20 indoor and 19 outdoor conference crowns, as well as numerous top-10 finishes at the Division III Nationals.

Homon graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Massachusetts in 1972. While at Massachusetts, Homon lettered two years in the shot put and discus. In 1979, he received his master’s in physical education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
