Sandy Douglas

Head Coach

Sandy Douglas, who enters her 23rd year as head softball coach at Mount Union, earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from Salem College (WV) in 1981 and a master’s degree in sports psychology from Syracuse University in 1983.

She has led Mount Union to 15 seasons of 20 wins or more and five NCAA berths (’88, ’90, ’91, ’98 & ’99), while compiling a 487-303 overall record with the Purple & White.

Douglas also coached the Mount Union volleyball team from 1986-2005, and also serves as the senior women’s administrator.  She compiled a 338-310 record with the Purple Raider volleyball program.  She reached the 800-win milestone on March 4, 2007 against the U.S. Merchant Marines.

“I have been very fortunate to spend a good deal of my adult life working at Mount Union College,” noted Douglas.  “This is an excellent Division III environment – both from a classroom and student-athlete standpoint.  I have had the pleasure of coaching many outstanding athletes, who have excelled on the field, on the court and in their chosen field of study.  Hopefully, I can continue to contribute to the Mount Union community for many years to come.

“From a softball standpoint, we have fielded some excellent teams through the years.  However, our primary goal every season is to win the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship.  That remains our objective in 2007.”

Douglas, who serves as the athletic senior women’s administrator at Mount Union, is also President of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
