Because the residential environment is an integral part of the Mount Union College educational experience, the College is intentional about creating and supporting distinctive, theme-based residential learning environments that:
1. Promote responsible citizenship
2. Provide opportunities for faculty/staff to work with students outside of the traditional classroom and office settings
3. Enable students to work towards self-determined goals that will benefit the campus and the surrounding community

Theme Houses for 2008-2009
Berea House:
Berea serves as the Mount Union College international house. The co-education house offers valuable opportunities to explore and appreciate the diversity. The house is striving to educate and open the minds of fellow students about our global community.
Men's Fine Arts:
The mission of the Fine Arts House is to create an environment that is able to help advance the fine arts at Mount Union College. Along with advancement of the fine arts, we strive to push our members towards academic excellence and campus involvement. Through pushing our members to excel not only within but also outside of the fine arts, we hope that we can produce greater interest in all of the fine arts at Mount Union College
Men's Music House:
The members of the house plan to promote musical fellowship, share with the Mount Union College and Alliance communities, and promote a better understanding of music and its impact. The members have also set personal and academic goals as a part of their plans.
Animal House:
The purpose of the house is to assist local animal shelters and show concern for stray and abused animals. The group seeks to support animal shelters by volunteering and fundraising. Members also plan to involve the community by supporting the adoption of animals living in the shelters.
Make A Difference House:
The house mission is to help in the lives of children in our local community not only regularly on a day-to-day level but at an educational level as well.
Women's Fine Arts:
The mission of the house is to increase awareness of fine arts throughout the community. Unfortunately, the fine arts are dying within communities due to budget cuts and apathy. The group strives to show the community the positive impact the arts have on all generations.
Japanese Culture House:
The house mission is to help first-time International students have an enjoyable learning experience. As many of the members have studied abroad, they are familiar with the trials of being new in an unfamiliar place and the difficulty of learning about a new culture and speaking a different language. The house hopes to create an opportunity to support International students while at Mount Union and they strive to accomplish their personal goals of being more fluent in Japanese and learning about Japanese culture.
