Violet Bica Ross is a 1944 graduate of Mount Union and a native of Alliance. She strongly supports Mount Union in a number of ways.
An eduator throughout her career, she taught at South Liberty Elementary School in Alliance where she trained several Mount Union student teachers. She also served as the school psychologist at Maple Heights, Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights from where she retired.
She and her late husband, L. Clayton, have been extremely generous to institutions of higher learning. They had previously donated two rooms in the counseling center of the Hoover-Price Campus Center dedicated to their loved ones during the "Progress with Tradition" campaign.
Additionally, Mrs. Ross has contributed to a scholarship fund, honoring her late husband (Clayton) and her late brother, George Bica '41, a former employee of Babcock and Wilcox and resident of Alliance.
Most recently, Mrs. Ross has contributed significant funds for the naming of the Bica-Ross Residence Hall on Campus, named in memory of her husband, Clay, her brother George, and in honor of her sister Virginia Bica.
Mrs. Ross feels very strongly about Mount Union. Her sentiments are best expressed in a quote from her. "Mount Union is like my second home and is a large part of my life. The College is part of my family and purple runs through my veins".
