From a gift of land made 150 years ago from the parents of Mount Union College founder Orville Nelson Hartshorn through the recent multi-million dollar commitment of alumna Vanita Bauknight Oelschlager '63, alumni and friends of the College have generously participated in the ongoing transformation of campus, our people and our programs.
Gifts that transform, or "leadership" gifts, help to build buildings, endow positions or programs, and create new educational opportunities. Such gifts usually involve careful planning with the College's administrative council, members of the Board of Trustees, and staff members of the Office of Advancement. Examples of leadership gifts in recent years include the John T. Huston-Dr. John D. Brumbaugh Nature Center, the Schooler Lecture Endowment, Bracy Hall, the Dewald Chapel, the Gulling Training Center, Hoiles-Peterson Hall, the N.A. Cunningham Chair in Business, and Bica-Ross Hall.
Whether leadership gifts are directed to a capital need, faculty or student support, or a program endowment, all gifts help to ensure institutional longevity and create the foundation upon which Mount Union builds lasting financial strength and academic quality.
The College maintains an ongoing list of priorities and projects at various stages of development. For more information on how a leadership gift can make a difference, contact Jim Piatt, Vice President for College Advancement at (330) 823-2599 or piattjb@muc.edu.
