Mount Union Names Three to Baseball All-OAC Team
Mount Union College junior/first baseman Cory Slaybaugh (Hartville/Lake), sophomore/pitcher Paul Mariotti (Copley) and freshman/outfielder Greg Ferrell (Uniontown/Green) earned 2008 All-Ohio Athletic Conference status, announced the OAC office on Monday, May 12.
Slaybaugh finished the 2008 season hitting .376 with 13 doubles and 23 runs batted in. He also led the team with 258 putouts and had a .993 fielding percentage.
Mariotti went 6-2 overall with a 3.73 earned run average. He struck out 41 batters in 62.2 innings of work. Opponents hit just .254 against Mariotti in 2008.
Ferrell led Mount Union in hitting with a .419 batting average with four homeruns and team-best 31 runs batted in. He also led the Raiders with 10 stolen bases.
Mount Union (20-17 in ’08) finished in fourth place in the Ohio Athletic Conference during regular play and finished fourth at the OAC Tournament.
