Ben Hodkinson Named Academic All-District Basketball

(DELAWARE, OH)--Mount Union junior guard Ben Hodkinson (Tippecanoe/Harrison Central) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Men's Basketball Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hodkinson has started all 20 games so far this season for the Purple Raiders and is the team's third leading scorer at 9.5 points per game. He tops the team and is second in the Ohio Athletic Conference in three-point field goal percentage as he has converted 35-of-71 shots (.493) from beyond the arc.
Off the court, Hodkinson has a 3.91 grade point average as a health and physical education major and participated with the rest of the Mount Union basketball team in the Dream to Read program where they read to students at Parkway Elementary School in Alliance.
Mount Union, 8-12 overall and 6-7 in the OAC, travel to Ohio Northern for an OAC matchup Saturday at 3 pm in Ada.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot. Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot. District IV includes every NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institution in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
