(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.)—Mount Union College’s football team is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the Lindy’s 2008 College Football Preseason magazine. Senior quarterback Greg Micheli (Upper Sandusky/Upper Sandusky) along with runningback and fellow senior Nate Kmic (Delta/Delta) were each named First Team All-Americans, while Micheli was picked as preseason Most Valuable Player and Kmic is preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
Two of the Purple Raiders’ home games in 2008, the Sept. 6 season opener against preseason No. 16 St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College and the Oct. 11 game against preseason No. 8 Capital University, were tabbed as national games to watch by the magazine.
Mount Union returns eight starters from a 2007 squad that went 14-1 overall, won its 16th consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference title and advanced to the Stagg Bowl (NCAA national championship game) for a third-straight season.
