Men's Soccer Falls in Season Opener

(DEFIANCE, OH)--Mount Union College's men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Kalamazoo College in its season opener Saturday (Aug. 30) at the Defiance College Classic in Defiance, Ohio.

Anthony Mara tallied a goal in his very first college game.
Kalamazoo (2-0) got the board first on an own goal in the 12th minute and maintain a 1-0 lead at the break.

Freshman Anthony Mara (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) came off the bench to score in his very first collegiate game on an assist from fellow freshman  Tommie McBride (New Waterford/Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) in the 69th minute.

The Hornets, who outshot the Raiders 14-7, would get the game winner in the 72nd minute on a goal from Justin Evans.

Mount Union (0-1) is back on the pitch at 1 p.m. tomorrow against the host Defiance College.
