Mount Union's Wrestling Team Competes At Wheaton Invitational

The Purple Raiders (2-12) finished 24th out of 27 teams at the Wheaton Invitational on February 1 and 2 in Wheaton, Illinois.

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders on Day 1 was Nicholas Allerding (184 pounds) who was a team best 4-1 record and guaranteed himself a top eight finish by being in the consolation quarterfinals at the end of the day. Also picking up victories for the Purple and White were Shawn O'Neill (141 pounds, 2-2 Day 1 record) and Adam Lange (197 pounds, 1-2 Day 1 record).

Day 2 consisted of Allerding completing his tournament where he finished in eight place finishing 4-3 for the two days.

UW La Crosse (143 pts) won the tournament, as UW Parkside, Elmhurst, North Central College and the University of Indianapolis rounded out the top five.

The Raiders will next compete in their final home match of the year against Muskingum on February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
