Women's Swimming Win Second Straight at St. Vincent

(LATROBE, PA)--Mount Union College's women's swimming team won its second-straight dual meet with a 150-99 win at St. Vincent (PA) College Saturday in Latrobe, PA.  The Purple Raider men were narrowly defeated 135-127.

The women even their record at 3-3 overall, while the men sit at 1-5 on the season.

Freshman Kerry McCann (Bow, NH/Bow) won three events, the 200 Freestyle (2:09.46), the 200 IM (2:30.24) and the 200 Backstroke (2:25.13) to pace the women's squad.

Another freshman, Sarah Noble (Copley/Copley) won the 100 (1:05.29) and 200 (2:32.53) Butterfly events, while freshmen Laura Gricol (McCloud, OK/McCloud) took the 200 Breaststroke (2:40.26) and Melissa Dreger (Mentor/Mentor) won the 100 Backstroke.

Last but not least, Noble and Gricol teamed with freshmen Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Julia Kaszycki (Soloman, KS/Salina) to win the 400 Medley Relay.

On the men's side, junior Mike Kuzma (Cocoa Beach, FL/Kellam) won three events taking titles in the 200 Breaststroke (2:22.71), 200 Freestyle (1:53.08), 200 Butterfly (2:07.73) and senior Dan Hampu (Alliance/Gates Mills Hawken) won three events as well taking the 100 Backstroke (58:30), 200 Backstroke (2:08.60) and 200 IM (2:11.09).

Sophomore Matt Carlozzi (Canfield/Canfield) rounded out the top performances for the men with titles in the 1650 (17:49.40) and  500 Freestyle (5:01.81) events.

The Raiders compete next Saturday at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio.
