Women's Tennis Defeats John Carroll To Advance To OAC Tournament Semifinals
(ALLIANCE,OH)--Mount Union College defeated John Carroll University, 5-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Wednesday at the Whitehill Tennis Courts in Alliance, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders improved to 15-6 overall, won their sixth-straight match and advance to face regular season champion and top-seeded Ohio Northern University Friday at 4:30 pm at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
John Carroll finishes its season with a 9-10 record.
The Raiders got the lead early, as they took a 2-1 lead after doubles highlighted by a 8-6 win at third doubles by juniors Kacey Huff (Louisville/Louisville) and Tara Biedenbach (Canton/Canton Central Catholic).
Mount Union won three singles matches including victories by Huff at 1st singles (6-4,6-3), Biedenbach at sixth singles (6-3,6-2) and sophomore Mary-Catherine Beck (Alliance/St Thomas Aquinas) at third singles to end the match.
