Women's Track Finishes Sixth at OAC Championships; Stalter Named Distance Runner of the Meet

Heather Stalter was named Distance Runner of the Meet at the OAC Outdoor Championships

(WILMMINGTON, OH)--Mount Union College women's track & field team finished in sixth place and junior Heather Stalter (Marietta/Marietta) was named Distance Runner of the Meet at the 2009 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders posted 78 points which left them just four points behind fifth place Marietta College (82 points).

Ohio Northern University tallied 125 points to edge out Baldwin-Wallace College (108) for the title.  

Stalter won the 10,000 meters (40:12.94) and finished second in the 5000 meters (19:13.12) to claim all-conference honors in both events.

Three other Raiders went all-conference in two events as freshman Aubree Jones (Falconer, NY/Falconer) won the discus (130-10) and placed second in the javelin (122-08), junior Aubrey Loy (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) won the triple jump (35-9.25) and placed third in the long jump (17-9.75) while freshman Alice Couglin (Hamburg, NY/East Aurora) placed third both the 5,000 (19:13.41) and 10,000 meters (40:32.18).

Sophomore Annie Patton (Darlington, PA/Blackhawk) set a conference record and won the javelin with a mark of 144-07 to round out the top performances for Mount Union.

Mount Union next competes on Friday, May 8 at the Gator Invitational at Allegheny (PA) College in Meadville, PA.
