Women's Track Third at Westminster Invite; Loy and Patton Each Win Two Events
(NEW WILMINGTON, PA)--Mount Union College women's track and field team finished third at the Westminster Invitational Saturday in New Wilmington, PA.
Aubrey Loy (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) and Annie Patton (Darlington, PA/Blackhawk) each won a pair of field events as Loy claimed wins in the long jump (5.70 m) and triple jump (11.23 m), while Patton took wins in the shot put (11.66 m) and javelin (42.93 m).
Rachel Perry (Westerville/Westerville North) also claimed a win in the 3000m steeplechase (12:03.38).
Twin sisters Aubree and Anna Jones (Falconer, NY/Falconer) finished second (37.62 m) and third (36.78 m) in the discus and Christin Handley (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois Central) placed third in the 1500m (5:04.42) to round out the top performances for the women.
The Purple Raiders tallied 96 points which left them behind second place Penn State-Behrend (128 points) and first place and tournament host Westminster (PA) College (248 points).
Mount Union competes next Friday and Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.
