Raider Volleyball Squad Breaks School Record With WIn Over Muskingum

Mount Union's volleyball team (27-4, 7-1 OAC) set a single-season school mark for victories (27) with a victory over visiting Muskingum (18-9, 4-5 OAC) in four sets (30-26, 28-30, 30-26. 30-21) on Tuesday, October 23.

The previous Purple Raider mark was 26, set in 2000. The win was also the team's 13th consecutive victory - one shy of the team record (14) - also set in 2000.

Top performers for the Raiders included Melissa Mahnke with 23 kills, teammates Sarah Parker added 18 , Leah Hirsch had 11 and Amanda Kohler contributed nine kills and 29 digs. Sarah Dean ended the match with 35 digs, Alexi Sawayda and Clarissa Kmieck each added 12 respectively. Tracy Reschke had 55 assists.

After the match, Raider Head Coach Leigh Ann Matesich commented on the team setting a new school record, "We have had a productive season so far, but it is not over yet. We still have work to do."

Mount Union next hosts Heidelberg and Shawnee State on Saturday, October 27 in the Timken Gymnasium closing out regular season play.

The OAC Tournament starts the following week.
