Why did you choose to pursue a business administration major at Mount Union?
I chose the business administration field at Mount Union because it has been a goal of mine to someday start and run my own business. The program at Mount offers many aspects of business so that students can get a full understanding of the business world.

What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
There are so many opportunities for business majors; people just have to look. Almost every company has a need for business majors. I have had four internships so far and all have been different. One was in Career Development with Becky Doak, two were with FirstEnergy, and currently I am working with WRL advertising in Canton. Here I am getting experience in public relations, marketing, copywriting, and research.

How will you use your degree upon graduation?
I would like to obtain a job in the advertising world as an account executive or something along these lines. I would also like to get my masters degree after college and use both degrees to further my career.

What activities are you involved in?
I am currently the president of The Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM). We are planning on attending the national conference this year in Las Vegas, as well as looking to local companies for projects. In the past we have worked with the Alliance community hospital as a consulting firm for their customer service department.
I am also a member of Alpha Phi Omega, which is the service fraternity at Mount Union. We perform service for different organizations, such as the blood drive.

Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major?
To be a successful business major, a person should have persistence and dedication, because some classes can be difficult. Giving up early on a class can hurt you in the long run when that information will be needed again. A person should also have thick skin, especially if they are trying to earn an internship with a company. You might send your resume out to ten companies and only hear back from two of them. This is where persistence comes in as well. If you do not get in with the company you wanted, keep applying. Let them know you are interested, so that when it comes time for them to hire a new intern or full time position, they will remember who you are.

What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you?
The business major is a great major, you can do so much with it. It does not just lock you into one kind of job like an education major would. The key to being successful in business is to get as much experience as possible. Try to get as many internships as possible. Companies love to see that a person has real world experience. Most times they look for experience over GPA. Also join business related groups. They look great on resumes and can offer projects that can give you experience as well.
