Why did you choose to pursue your degree?
I chose to pursue a degree in Exercise Science because I have always been interested in how the human body works and how physical activity effects various populations. Also, I love working with people and would enjoy helping them to achieve their health- related goals. Therefore, I decided a degree in Exercise Science would be the best choice for me.
What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
Students who have a degree in Exercise Science have a variety of jobs to choose from. Career options include cardiac rehabilitation, physical or occupational therapy, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, nutritionist, and much more depending on which area of exercise science one would like to specialize in.
How will you use your degree upon graduation?
After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Mount Union College, I would like to attend graduate school to continue my education to become a physical therapist.
What activities are you involved in?
I am member of the Exercise Science Club, Purple Raider Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, and Campus Crusade for Christ.
What elements should a person possess in order to succeed in your major?
A person should possess a hard work ethic, a positive attitude, patience, and a true desire to want to help others.
What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you?
Don’t get discouraged by the tough class load. Also, try to get out into the health field and observe various health settings. This experience will help you to apply the information you have learned in class. Finally, take advantage of other classes offered at Mount outside of the Exercise Science requirements to become as well-rounded as possible.
