Why did you choose to pursue music at Mount Union?
The reason I chose to pursue a degree in music is that I have been in love with it, ever since I was young. It is a part of me, and what better way to live your life than through what you love?
What types of jobs are available for students who share your major?
There are endless possibilities for those majoring in music, whether it is educating future musicians, performing for major ensembles, composing scores for films, etc. There are no limits on what you can do, as long as you never give up on your dreams.
How will you use your degree upon graduation?
I am currently majoring in Music with a minor in Theatre. My hopes are to continue my studies with a Masters in Education so as to have the opportunity to teach both of my concentrations. Also, I hope to perform and direct drama, so I still have many plans for the future.
What activities are you involved in?
I am currently a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, an international music co-ed fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, a co-ed fraternity for those who are involved in band, and OCMEA, the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association. I am also a member of MUC Players, and the Sophomore Service Honorary.
Elements a person should possess to succeed in your major?
The key elements for any student in any major are determination and a vision that you can accomplish anything you set your heart on.
What advice can you offer for someone who is considering having the same major as you?
My advice to anyone who plans to pursue a degree in music is that the road may be hard, but it is far, far worth it. Music is the fruit of the soul, and if you have a passion for it, success will come inevitably.
