What type of interesting features do you incorporate into your classes?
Because my professional experience is in the business, education and health care environments, my approach to teaching is to incorporate my experiences and industry knowledge into the curriculum. I continue to consult with business in the areas of leadership development and change management so I integrate 'real-life' examples throughout all my classes. I prefer to teach through experiential learning exercises.
In your opinion, how is Mount Union College unique from other small liberal arts colleges?
At Mount Union College, we take great pride in evaluating the needs of the changing work force and tailoring our business curriculum accordingly.
How do Mount Union students benefit from attending a small school as opposed to a larger school?
One of the most significant differences for Mount Union College students is that their academic advisors are also their professors within their chosen major. This allows us to know our students and their career aspirations and advise them accordingly.
Have you done any interesting research or developed any interesting courses at Mount Union? If so, explain.
I recently developed a concentration in human resource management. This program offers students a basic overview of functions performed by managers and human resource professionals in a constantly changing business environment. This concentration gives students exposure to hiring personnel, business ethics, human relations, compensation strategies and other HR issues.
What kinds of opportunities do Mount Union students have after graduating from College?
Graduates of Mount Union College enter a wide variety of positions and careers. Students majoring in economics, accounting and business administration have secured jobs in both the public and private sectors. For example, investment banking, human resource management, non-profit and public accounting opportunities have been, and continue to be, available to our graduates.
In what activities do you participate in your spare time?
I enjoy traveling with my family and attending seminars and classes to stay current in my field.
